THE ARTIST | JOHN RAY VINO
Hi! Welcome to my blog channel! I'm John Ray Vino, an aspiring artist in the Philippines studying Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing. Here is where I post my recent milestones on my work process through artworks and game development tutorials.
A brief history of the blog. . .
I started this blog when I was still a Senior Highschooler at Mondriaan Aura Senior High. Since Highschool, Art is already my hobby. From doodles to 3D perspective art, my interest to art had never faded 'til this very day. I'm still learning to improve my creativity and imagination to create art and inspire people through art.
About me. . .
I, John Ray G. Vino. 21 yrs old. Reciding at Olongapo City, Zambales 2200, PH. I was the only son of Arsenio and Imelda Vino. Devoted christian at the Iglesia Ni Cristo, and an active member. Studying at Gordon College since 2019.
My life through art had many twist and turns. Before, I think of art was just a hobby for people to have a past-time that gives a sense of tranquility and the expression of their feelings. Well I was wrong, I learned that art also influences the societies behavior and not just a mere hobby; we see art in almost everything that we just forget to notice. From advertisements, social media, games, videos, and from things we use everyday; there's someone who made those! an Artist! And by learning that, I was inspired to learn and wanted to be an artist that influences the society from my art.
And by that, I joined an audition for studying Special Program in the Arts (OCNHS) major in Visual Arts, sadly I was not picked at the audition, but they instead transfer me to a different major; Major in Media Arts.
Here's a reference to my Media Arts work, as an Editor:

Media arts although not my choice of major, opened a door to graphic design using computers to create content especially video editing. I was totally invested on it that I needed to bring a laptop everyday for the subject. Media arts also teaches the subject of journalism, and public speaking. That's why I was somehow good at writing articles or I think so haha. I learned how to properly take pictures of events or subjects, learning the rule of thirds, camera angles, FOV's, and many technical stuff that are used in modern photography like DSLR's apperture, and shutter speed.
Even though I was not lucky to be picked for visual arts major, I didn't stop me to study Media Arts and to try visual arts myself by learning from my classmates that were luckly picked for Visual Arts program since most of them from that major were my close friends, so whenever they had a topic on anatomy proportions or even acrylic art - they shared their knowlege to me. That lasted for 4 years of my highschool career.
As Senior High comes by, I still want to learn more about art so... Again I partake an entrance exam at AURA SHS for their Arts and Design Track major in Arts Prodution. Luckily this time I was accepted for the course. During this period, I was more productive and more engaged to arts. The course teaches students about fine arts and digital arts, two worlds in one. A mix of arts to be exact, from visual arts, music production, writing, theater, dance, and media production.
We also had lessons about the history of well known artist the likes of Da Vinci, Picasso, Van Gogh, Michaelangelo; and some are our local artist like Amorsolo, Juan Luna and Vicente Manansala. Inspired, I search more on their history and the style of art, from fresco, oil painting, murals, and sculptures. They inspired me more on their motivations and reasons for making art to express their emotions and depiction of events that are to be unfold. My senior high days were short but plenty of memories from great comradery and collaboration with great minds and creative people.
After graduating Senior High. I was still confused on whatever course in College should I choose. I would actually want to study Fine Arts at UP Diliman but I was not able to take any of the entrance exam since AURA's time table of school year were in conflict, and also if ever I past the exam; the need to live away from home will be difficult and costly - so I decided not to.
But things went in favor to me, as I learned that Gordon College is offering Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing. Without any doubt, I take the entrance Exam and glady I passed. I didn't let go of that opportunity, that's why I am here as a student of GC. BSEMC offers a one of a kind course - linear to Visual Arts and Digital Arts. Learning a new field felt very diffucult at first because although it's art bounded, it also has studies that relate to programing and game development which is a challege to me, since it was my first time I ever have to study about it.
With major leaps and falls, I manage to stay in the couse without any major issues on my grades somehow. But I am more keen to being skillfull and hardworking than being talented and genius. So I prioritized studying and reserching methods to ease my workload and pass outputs with quality - on time prior to deadline.
Up till now, I am still perplexed on how I was destined to this course. From Highschool - Senior High - College, all are alligned to one thing, Art. . .That's why I'll continue logging every leap I have to remind me on where I was before, and to share how I made this far to inspire people through it.
