Animahenasyon16
I. Details of the event/activity
The webinar I attended entitled, “Animaherasyon”
was a paid webinar held at November 18-20, 2022. This was hosted by the Animation
Council of the Philippines or ACPI, I only attended the Day 1 of the webinar which
they invited Pinoy Youtubers, among which are famous pinoy satire animators
such as Pendipods and Arkin Animation, while the Visual Development Panel were
consist of veterans in the animation industry like Tito Romero, Michael Gorospe
and Hardy Gamboa.
II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)
As an aspiring student that studies
animation as a career, this webinar uplifted my spirit to pursue and be better
on my own craft. In other words, I’m inspired to listen to their stories. How
they made their titles, how it started, and what hardships they had fought to
make their career successful like they were today.
As mentioned by some of them, animation
is fun but serious. Or it seems to be easy at first glance. Without knowing the
process and consistency on creating works like these, mostly as an animator you’ll
not make the cut. And a part of that process is patiently learned from your
lapses and accepting criticisms. By that you can continue improving your self
to be a better artist.
They also shared their techniques
on making animations, illustrations, character design, while also sharing their
funny experiences and real-world happenings that also affect them – showing that
they are somewhat connected and related to our society even though they don’t appear
much in public. And it seems to me that what they do (Animation) is their way
of communicating with people in the community. Yup, probably or obviously that
is why they animate and create those cool satirical stories online to social
media.
III.
Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a
practical level (practical application of learnings)
Like them, I would seek
to be a better artist. Applying their techniques, and passion on to myself. And
to also inspire others in improving their art.
Researching
new techniques would help me on that goal. I might take another art style or
create from scratch. But what should always remain is my passion to create art
in any form.
I could honestly say that I still need more experience on animations, this
webinar made it clearer to me that I should stick to what I’m good at, which is
Background Design.
IV.
Positive feedback (on the event organization)
This webinar is worth my
time as it encouraged me to further reflect on my skills in animation, and inspired
by their warm atmosphere, such happy to listen to their stories of triumphs and
hardships that they overcome.
V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities
I
wish that they also added some lectures or studies about their workflows in
creating animations and illustrations.
