Intro to 3D Animation & Career Overview

 

I.  Details of the event/activity

 

The Seminar “Intro to 3D Animation & Career Overview” was organized by our team Studio Pyros, it was Held last December 10, 2022 at the Gordon College Function Hall. Our Guest Speaker is Mr. Jelson Ly M. Martin, he is a Design Leader/Animator of Hokei Subic Corporation, his passion creating art of traditional drawing brought him to this Industry.

 

II.  Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

 

Mr. Jelson first Introduce his self then showcase his works to the student of Gordon College CCS, after that Mr. Jelson, walk us through the Principles of 3D model, the student was Amazed by his work of 3D models and animation so as us the organizer.

 

After showing his work to the student, Mr. Jelson shared to us his story behind being a 3D Animator, he told us that at first he wasn’t in to 3D modeling and animation because he is a traditional artist, he gain client by sketching a portrait of them, however after the pandemic hit our country Mr. jelson barely have a client, he struggle earning from sketches, so he posted his work through social media then because he was posting his artwork in different social media, a Taiwanese message him that he want him to his company, the Taiwanese is the boss of Hokei Subic Corp. then Mr. Jelson train to create a 3D model and animation and that’s where his career started as an 3D animator.

 

 

III.  Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)

 

As one of the organizer of this seminar, all I can say is it’s hard to organize a seminar, at first we struggle gaining attendees because of some students are busy doing projects or they have something to do, but thanks to faculty and instructor who helped us by telling their students to attend our seminar, because of that student rush to our seminar and we gain the attendees were hoping for.

IV.  Positive feedback (on the event organization)

Thanks to Mr. Jelson Ly Martin for being a good speaker for a firs timer, he knows his craft very well and knows how to entertain people, I hope I can learn more about 3D Animation from him and other work he does in his company hokei subic corporation.

 

V.   Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities

I think the seminar went smoothly even the discussion is too fast, some student wasn’t able to attend the seminar on time because they’re busy yet they still attend even the seminar was about to end and the students are participating too. All in the entire seminar that we organize was a success.
